National Merit Commended Scholars, Jazz Cafe, Perfect Attendance, and Homecoming

Please congratulate our five Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program!

From left to right: David Choi, Alexandra Blount, Colson Ginger, Amy Neusaenger, Khoi Huynh.

Over 1.5 million students took the 2014 PSAT (Preliminary SAT) last year. Of those 1.5 million students, 50,000 highest scoring students were identified by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Some 16,000 of those were designated as National Merit Semifinalists and 34,000 of these high performers are now named Commended Students on the basis of scoring at or above the Index score of 202.

David Choi is deciding between UT Austin and Cornell University. He wishes to study Chemical Engineering.
Alexandra Blount is hoping to attend Texas Women's University. She plans to study Music.
Colson Ginger plans to attend Texas A & M University and he plans to study Ocean Engineering.
Amy Neusaenger has decided to attend Texas A & M University. She plans to eventually study psychiatry.
Khoi Huynh plans to attend UT Austin to study Biology.

Cedar Ridge is very proud to have five National Merit Semifinalist and five Commended National Merit Students! We will be presenting and honoring these exceptional students prior to our Varsity Football Game at Kelly Reeves Stadium, November 6.

Our fabulous Cedar Ridge Choir is presenting three performances of their Jazz Cafe.  Tonight's performance was wonderful. You'll hear beautiful harmonizing, as well as beautiful solos! Ms. Chamblee and I were delighted to be served appetizers and a dessert, as well, which made the night even more special. Don't miss our wonderful Headliners and Choir perform! If you missed tonight's performance, you can still catch one of the two performances tomorrow: Oct. 3 at 3:00 pm, and Oct. 3 at 7:00 pm. Don't miss their show!

The new 6-weeks grading period starts on Monday, October 5. We plan on providing certificates to all students during that 6-weeks period who have perfect attendance, so please encourage your child(ren) to be here every day.
