CRHS Swimmers End Season on High Note!

After a season of daily 6:30 – 8:00 a.m. practices, their sacrifice and commitment were rewarded!

At our District Meet January 27th, the team had over 92% season best times; most of those times were personal records. Several of those time drops were well over a second, which in swimming is significant.

Junior Nick Nerhood qualified individually for Regionals finishing 4th in the 500 Freestyle and 6th in the 100 Backstroke. Senior Caleb Randall qualified finishing 5th in the 100 Breaststroke. All 6 Relays qualified for Regionals as well.

At Regionals this past weekend, almost every performance was better than at our District Meet. All swims qualified for the consolation finals on Saturday, which was a team goal we set for the meet.

Nick finished 12th in the 500 Freestyle and 16th in the 100 Backstroke. Caleb missed the school record by 0.03 seconds finishing 14th in the 100 Breaststroke.
Our Girls Medley Relay of Morgan Hall (11), Maddy Moates (11), Brie Harris (11), and Ariana Bose (9) was a second faster that at Districts.

Our Boys Medley Relay of Nick Nerhood (11), Caleb Randall (12), Zach Rousset (12), and Zach Finch (11) was 3 seconds faster than they were at Districts.

Our Girls 200 Freestyle Relay of Brie Harris, Maddy Moates, Sevana Allen (11), and Ariana Bose was 2 seconds faster than at Districts.

Our Boys 200 Freestyle Relay of Kevin Mashayekhi (12), Zach Finch, Mason Moreno (11), and Caleb Randall was 1 second faster than at Districts.

Our Girls 400 Freestyle Relay of Morgan Hall, Brie Harris, Sevana Allen, and Ariana Bose was 9 seconds faster than at Districts.

Our Boys 400 Freestyle Relay of Kevin Mashayekhi, Zach Finch, Zach Rousset, and Nick Nerhood was 5 seconds faster than at Districts.

We also wanted to mention those students that traveled as relay alternates but did not get to compete. Their work ethic and attitude helped create a culture change in our program that allowed us to perform the way we did this season. They are Seriana Langenohl (11), Vanessa Sachs (11), Ana Lecomte (10), Chandley Stohrer (10), and Sami Guzman (9).

Here at Cedar Ridge we have plenty to celebrate!

Forty-six German students competed this past Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Sprachfest South Texas regional German contest, held at UTSA in San Antonio. We had a large number of students earn awards and many advance to state. Please see the publication for a list of honors and awards!

Our Art students also had an impressive weekend! There were 1,502 entries from 19 different school districts, only 118 entries are moving onto State VASE from our region, and RRISD broke a record of have 27 students from the district that are moving on to State! 8 of those 27 RRISD students are from Cedar Ridge! The photos below are the state qualifiers.

We would also like to celebrate the fabulous accomplishments of the Cedar Ridge Dance Department. A select group of Dance 1 students were taken by Ms. Stevie Baldwin-Sutton to a statewide dance assessment system and received nothing but straight level 1s, continuing our streak of excellence over our last 7 years!
