National Honor Society Teams Up On Our Culinary Garden Project

Yesterday was a beautiful day to garden, and that's what our National Honor Society (NHS) students did! The students were lead by Mr. Johnson, Culinary Teacher extraordinaire, and the National Honor Society Sponsor and Science Teacher, Ms. Dang, The Cedar Ridge NHS students are involved in two service projects this year, the Culinary Garden Project and supporting Staff Appreciation Day. The Culinary Garden Project allows the NHS student to team up with Cedar Ridge Culinary and FAC classes to assist with creating a garden that grows vegetables and herbs that can be harvested by our culinary students for fresh, wholesome dishes.

The garden project is in Phase 3 right now, which is a garden expansion. Next Fall will be Phase 4, when our Construction Tech and Architecture classes team up to design and build a pergola (a type of gazebo) and a work shed. Mr. Johnson also plans on adding more benches. His dream is to create an outdoor education classroom space for the Cedar Ridge students and teachers.

Way to go NHS Raiders! Thank you Mr. Johnson and Ms. Dang for your leadership, creativity, and vision!

The pictures tell the story.
