FAC Class Wreath Project Needs Help, Guidelines for Exemptions, & Cedar Ridge on PBS

Ms. Hermann and Ms. Pisano, our two fantastic Cedar Ridge FAC teachers, wanted to share the following information, in case some of you can help them with their project.

"The FAC students are working on building a business for their occupational development class. As part of that business, we are doing a wreath fundraiser. The FAC students will be making holiday wreaths.

The fundraiser requires the students to learn about recycling old clothes for a new purpose, to build fine motor skills by cutting the materials and tying them onto the wire, and to work on money skills by writing receipts, delivering products, and making change.

If you have any old green, red, white, stripped, holiday blue, grey, gold, or silver material, clothes, and/or ribbon, we would greatly appreciate you dropping these off in the front office. Thank you so much for your support! "

Here is a picture of the wreaths they will be making:

Exemption Guidelines
: Students may be exempted from 3 semester exams for classes in which they have a semester average of 85 or above AND have no more than two absences that semester from that class.

Students must be present on the exam days for the periods being exempted. Students may not just sign in and leave during exams. They must remain in the testing classroom for the entire testing period in order to receive their exemption. This is a district requirement.

Students in EOC tested courses (Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and US History) are required to take fall semester exams; however, they are not required to take a spring semester exam in the EOC tested subjects.

The second semester courses exempted shall not be the same courses exempted in the fall semester.

For exemption purposes only, 3 tardies = 1 absence no matter where they occur across the schedule. These are added to each period’s absences. (If you have 3, 4, 5, tardies = 1 absence; 6, 7, 8 tardies = 2 absences; 9 or more tardies = NE – Not Eligible to exempt class)

Students must turn in original signed form by deadline (12/4 by 4:00 p.m.) in order to be considered for exemption. (No photos, faxes, or copies are accepted).
