Cedar Ridge Swimmer Qualifies for Olympic Trials! Congratulations, Nicholas Milikich!

This past July, at the junior national championships, Nicholas Milikich qualified for Olympic trials in the 200 individual medley (IM). Each event has a certain time standard that swimmers must meet in order to swim at Olympic trials, and then the top two finishers in each event at trials make the Olympic team. Olympic trials will be at the end of June in Omaha.

Nick swims about 20 hours a week for Nitro Swimming in Cedar Park.

We are so proud of Nick, who is also an outstanding National Merit Scholar, as well!

Ms. Joye Ardrey shared the following information she has been sharing in her Education Classes at Cedar RIdge:

"I'm spending this entire week talking about teen dating violence. I wasn't aware that February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness month (hence the orange hearts on campus), until I attended a training last week. The training was about Parenting and Paternity Awareness (P.A.P.A) and put on by the Attorney General's office. Great information...one of the best training's I've attended in 22 years!

Overall, the topic and TEKS are specific to Child Guidance and Child Development, but I decided that all of my classes needed to hear the information.

I've also included a pic of the inside of the classroom door. I had everyone write on an orange heart what love means to them. The response has been incredibly awesome!!!"

Busy Week at the Ridge!

The district has published a great article about our Construction Tech teacher, Neil Little. Please click on this link to view the article.
https://roundrockisd.org/cte-profile-little-helps-students-construct-lifelong-skills/

Superintendent's Snapshot- February 2

Various community members and central office staff visited February 2 to see some of the great things going on at Cedar Ridge. The district is hosting these "Superintendent's Snapshots" across the district at all levels of schools, so the community can get a better idea of what's happening in the district. We had student ambassadors as their tour guides showing them around the school. We highlighted the collaboration between the Culinary, Construction Tech, and Architecture Academy strands. They visited Culinary's outdoor classroom and they heard from students who have been involved from each of the three strands. They also heard from our Eagle Scout, , who has participated in the project by bringing volunteers in to weed, clean up, and plant various things in the garden.

They had just enough time to run by to see our mock Courtroom that was another collaboration between Architecture, Construction Tech, and our Law Enforcement Academies.

Students Involved: Jake Emery, Sarah Colon, Mackenzie Stanhope, Itzell Avila, Jacob Pilcher, Alexis Rodriquez, Wesley Matingou, Michael Lobsenz, Casey Paxman, Edulas Sturms, Trevor Maruscak, Rachel Van Pelt, Christiana Carter, Rebecaa Crawford, Alyssia Torres, Christian Pugh, and Lamar Roberson.
