Happy Holidays!

The Cedar Ridge staff wishes everyone a lovely and safe holiday! We will see students back on January 6, 2015!

Students who missed a final for some reason, are encouraged to come to school January 5 to make it up. We will have staff ready to administer any missed finals.

On Tuesday, January 6, students will report to designated classrooms to receive copies of their Spring Semester schedules. Student names will be posted, in alpha order, on lists in the cafeteria and front hallway, telling them to which room they should report to receive their schedule. Class sizes were analyzed prior to the break to allow us to make improvements where possible. Due to these adjustments, some teacher changes may have happened for students between the first and second semesters. Therefore, all students should pick up a new schedule to ensure they are following their most up-to-date schedule.

We appreciate all of your support and we look forward to a great Spring Semester!

Preparing for the Winter Holiday!

This past week was a busy one wrapping up the "6-weeks" in preparation for finals. The week ended very festively thanks to Mr. Salomon and his KRU men! They put up holiday trees in the courtyard, which really helped get everyone into the holiday spirit. KRU named them their KRU's-mas Trees!

Mr. Salomon teaches digital electronics, along with mathematics, which came in handy as he and the KRU installed flashing lights that danced to instrumental holiday tunes. They also invited staff members to add special ornaments to the trees, which many of them did.

The culminating surprise was when Santa showed up during the lunch periods. Many students had their pictures made with Santa!

If you had been on campus this past Friday, you would also have seen quite a few "special" holiday sweaters on campus. You will see a few examples of those creative creations below! Mr. Lewis won our staff's Ugly Sweater Contest.

Ms. White's Medical Microbiology Class created models of viruses which became their 12 Days of Viruses celebration!

Please don't forget that we will be following the finals schedule this week. You will find the schedule listed in my last blog post. Monday is the only full day for students. Tuesday through Thursday, students will be released at 1:15 pm and will not be served lunch on campus. Also, please remember that the district is requiring all students to attend their classes, even those they have exempted. Friday is the beginning of the students' winter holiday, and will be a work day for staff members.

Good luck to all of our students taking finals this week! Go Raiders!

Exemption Forms & Celebrating Our Seniors

I just want to give our students who have been retesting on one or more End of Course (EOC) state assessment this week a shout out! They have worked hard and taken the opportunities to retest seriously. I'm really proud of them. We have had almost a 100% attendance each day for the retest sessions. I also want to say "thank you" to Ms. Lyons, our campus testing coordinator. She has done a super job communicating with students, parents, and staff, as well, as organizing the whole testing process for our campus. Great job, Ms. Lyons! Thank you!

Today, exemption forms were passed out to students. Due to the new grade book/attendance system we are using this year, we had to adjust our process for preparing exemption forms. If your child has any questions about their exemption status, please have them report to the appropriate office, listed below, during the school day. The admin assistants in those offices will be able to assist them.
Last names beginning:

A-M report to office A212
N-Z report to office H131

It has been really exciting to hear from our seniors as they start receiving college and university acceptance letters! Just the other day, one of our awesome students shared with me that he has been accepted to the University of Texas Business Honors Program! We have amazing students and we have much to celebrate!
