What's Up? End of the 6 weeks, Computer Science I Speakers, and Jazz Cafe

Interesting news from the Cedar Ridge Computer Science Team, Ms. Joy Windell and Mr. Adrian Prado, concerning special speakers who visited their Computer Science 1 classes.

"Earlier this week, several members from the UTCS Roadshow came to Cedar Ridge to speak to our Computer Science 1 students. The members consisted of current UT Computer Science undergraduates ranging from freshman to seniors. They spoke to the classes about the different fields they can enter with a computer science degree, what the day looks like as a software engineer, and how computer science has changed our world. They went into detail about what life is like as a computer science major, how to prepare for college, and had a Q&A session with the Cedar Ridge students. Many of our students hope to enter the computer science field and they really enjoyed having the opportunity to learn about all the internships and postgraduate opportunities available to them."

There is a lot going on at the Ridge. Today is the last day of the 2nd 6-week marking period. Report cards will be distributed to students in their 2nd period classes on Thursday, November 10th. Just as a heads-up, the 3rd 6-weeks marking period ends Thursday, December 15, but grades will not be distributed until Thursday, January 5, 2017. Wow! I can't believe 2017 is right around the corner!
